Sempra Infrastructure is advancing its Port Arthur LNG operations in Texas. The company reported that its existing expansion project, a collaboration with ConocoPhillips designed to ship approximately 26 million tons of natural gas annually, remains on schedule for substantial completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Building on these developments, Sempra has initiated the federal permitting process for the Port Arthur LNG North Project. This proposed expansion seeks to add four liquefaction trains with a potential capacity of up to 27 million metric tons per annum, supported by three storage tanks and marine loading facilities. If approved, exports from this new phase could begin in the second half of 2034.

In a related commercial development, Sempra Infrastructure signed a 20-year sales and purchase agreement with Petrobras to supply liquefied natural gas from the Port Arthur LNG project in Jefferson County, Texas. Under this agreement, Petrobras will acquire approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum from Phase 2 of the project. This marks the first time a South American company has joined Sempra Infrastructure’s LNG customer portfolio.

The Port Arthur LNG project is being developed in two main phases. Phase 1 has a capacity of approximately 13 mtpa, with trains 1 and 2 expected to begin commercial operations in 2027 and 2028. Phase 2 will add another 13 mtpa, with trains 3 and 4 projected to start operations in 2030 and 2031, bringing the total capacity to roughly 26 mtpa.
