The Senegalese government has announced plans to connect over 8,000 primary schools to the internet using SpaceX’s Starlink satellite service. This initiative is scheduled for implementation ahead of the 2026-2027 school year to help reduce the digital divide across various territories.

National Education Minister Moustapha Guirassy stated that the connectivity will facilitate access to educational resources and digital teaching materials. The strategy includes the digital transformation of school registrations through the Planète 3 platform and training for 105,000 teachers and staff to improve digital literacy and the use of artificial intelligence. 

The project is part of a broader national effort toward universal connectivity, which includes a program to provide free internet access to one million Senegalese residents.
