In Vieste, Puglia, the Department of Social Policies has organized a week-long seaside retreat for twenty-eight residents over the age of 65. Starting September 1, the initiative provides self-sufficient seniors with a stay at a four-star hotel including full board to promote well-being, socialization, and inclusion.

The program received 44 applications for the 28 available spots. Mayor Maria Aida Episcopo noted the importance of the initiative for “community aggregation and local knowledge,” while Social Policy Councilor Simona Mendolicchio stated that the selected participants were those entitled to full financial exemptions.
