Sources: 4. Developments: 2. Executives from Serbia Zijin Copper and Serbia Zijin Mining recently issued greetings to the citizens of Bor to mark the city’s anniversary. The companies highlighted their economic contributions, noting an investment of $4 billion and the creation of over 3,600 new jobs in the Bor and Majdanpeć regions. However, social development advocates have raised concerns regarding the impact of these mining operations on the nearby village of Krivelj. The CORE Platform for Social Development and Innovation has called on the Serbian government to facilitate a collective relocation of residents, reporting that mining activities are encroaching on residential areas, schools, and cemeteries. Residents in Krivelj claim that daily blasting causes tremors that damage homes and produces excessive noise and dust. While a spatial plan for the Bor-Majdanpeć mining basin was initiated in 2014, the lack of an adopted plan has left villagers waiting over a decade for a transparent relocation process. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: Serbia Zijin Copper mining activities threaten Krivelj village The CORE Platform is calling for the urgent relocation of Krivelj villagers near Bor, Serbia, as Zijin Copper mining activities cause tremors, noise, and property damage to nearby homes. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/serbia-zijin-copper-mining-activities-threaten-krivelj-village ### 2026-10-03: Serbia Zijin Copper executives congratulate citizens of Bor Leadership from Serbia Zijin Copper and Serbia Zijin Mining congratulated the city of Bor on its anniversary, highlighting $4 billion in investments and significant local job creation. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/serbia-zijin-copper-executives-congratulate-citizens-of-bor --- Cite as: Serbia Zijin Copper mining operations in Bor.
