Former psychologist Ban Teik Tan, also known as Ricki Tan, faces 17 charges of historic sexual offending in New Zealand. The allegations involve unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault against five complainants, with incidents reportedly occurring between the late 1980s and 2005. During the period in question, the victims were aged between 12 and 21. 

Tan has been a registered psychologist in New Zealand since 1995 and worked with young men referred by agencies such as Oranga Tamariki and the Youth Court. His practising certificate has been suspended. Tan has pleaded not guilty to all charges. New Zealand Police have contacted 90 individuals who had contact with Tan through Child, Youth and Family during their youth and are appealing for further information from potential victims.
