Shangri-La Group announced the development of Songtei Kyoto, the second property in its ultra-luxury Shangri-La Signatures collection. Located in Kyoto, Japan, on the former site of the Kyoto Shoshidai opposite the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nijo Castle, the 77-key hotel is designed to reflect the elegance of Edo-period residences.

Facilities will include a wellness sanctuary with a private spa, indoor and outdoor hot baths, an indoor pool, and a gym. Culinary offerings are expected to feature an all-day dining lounge, a Chinese fine dining restaurant, and a kappo-sushi counter. 

Construction is being managed by Taisei Corporation. This project marks the brand’s first entry into Japan. The hotel is scheduled to begin welcoming guests in late 2026, with a full unveiling expected in early 2027.
