The seventh edition of the Sibiu Contemporary Art Festival (SCAF 7) has opened in Sibiu, Romania, under the theme ‘The Garden of Entropy – War/Apple’. The event features over one hundred artists from Romania and abroad, with Germany and France participating as guest countries.

A primary highlight of the festival is an exhibition focused on the Baia Mare School of Painting, which aims to connect a 130-year artistic tradition with contemporary art through dialogue between masters, professors, and students. 

During the opening at the Ursuline Monastery, Romanian Senator Ruxandra Cibu Deaconu discussed the cultural importance of the festival and the status of the monastery. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Alba Iulia recently put the building up for sale, with the Therme Group expressing interest in a 40 million euro acquisition to convert the site into a regional center for art, culture, and education.
