Administrative changes have occurred within local and regional governance in Sicily and surrounding areas. 

In Taranto and Misterbianco, new appointments were made to social and equality commissions. Alexia Serio was elected president of the Equal Opportunities Commission for the Municipality of Taranto, succeeding Luana Riso. In Misterbianco, Marina Virgillito was appointed to the Functional Management Group for the Regional Guarantor for Childhood and Adolescence to assist in developing policies for minors.

At the regional level in Sicily, Elisa Ingala, a member of the Movimento per l’Autonomia (Mpa), resigned as the Regional Assessor for Public Function and Local Autonomies. Sicilian Regional President Renato Schifani accepted the resignation and appointed lawyer Francesca Garigliano as her successor. Until her official swearing-in, Schifani will oversee the department in an interim capacity.
