Sicily is hosting several major culinary festivals this autumn. In Catania, ‘Catania da Mangiare – Il Festival’ is scheduled to debut on October 29 at Piazza Scammacca. The festival will feature ten thematic gastronomic areas, including street food, pizza, pastry, and traditional gelato. The event aims to transition a social media community into a real-world experience, allowing the public to sample specialties and vote for their favorite gastronomic category.

The eighth edition of the Messina Street Food Fest is currently taking place in Piazza Cairoli, running from October 15 to 18. Organized by Eventivamente in partnership with the Municipality of Messina, the festival showcases regional Italian delicacies and features master brewers. The event was inaugurated by local officials, including Messina Mayor Federico Basile and University Rector Giovanna Spatari, with the goal of promoting the local economy and social cohesion. This edition includes a ‘starred’ taste house with specialties from renowned chefs and live show cooking demonstrations by master chefs and gelato makers.

In a related culinary development in Catania, chef Antonino Buffa, known as Nino ‘u Ballerino’, participated in the ‘Doniamoci Fundraising 2026’ charity initiative on October 5. This event brought together various Sicilian chefs and catering professionals to raise funds for vulnerable groups in the territory using traditional street food.
