The Sicilian Eccellenza football season has commenced, marked by the start of competitive play and the reopening of regional venues.

In Messina, the reopening of the Stadio Celeste hosted a match between Messana Riviera and Athletic Gioiosa. This event coincided with the 22nd anniversary of Messina’s promotion to Serie A, with Athletic Gioiosa representatives describing the opportunity as an ‘immense honor’ and a ‘responsibility’ as they enter the facility’s history.

Akragas SLP has transitioned to its home ground, the Esseneto stadium, for its Eccellenza campaign. Following a 2-0 victory against Don Carlo Misilmeri, the team is preparing for its first away match of the championship against Castellammare Calcio 94 at the Giorgio Matranga stadium.

Coach Fabrizio Cammarata has emphasized a focus on performance as the foundation for results. Regarding the upcoming away fixture, he noted the difficulty of the match but expressed confidence in his players' experience. Additionally, Brazilian striker Luís Henrique, who recently made his debut, is expected to play a role in the upcoming match.
