Sources: 6. Developments: 2. A political deadlock within the center-right coalition in Siena led to the collapse of the Culture and School Commission. The commission failed to reach a legal quorum during a meeting intended to discuss the reorganization of school institutes following the closure of the San Bernardino school. This impasse has prevented the redistribution of school complexes among the Jacopo della Quercia, Cecco Angiolieri, and Federico Tozzi institutes. Following these administrative difficulties, students at the Monna Agnese Institute occupied their school buildings to protest structural and organizational issues. Protesters cited unsustainable conditions caused by the institute being split across three separate locations: via Monna Agnese, via Bastianini, and via Pendola. Grievances include obsolete buildings with structural defects and inadequate spaces that impact learning. Students claim that despite years of institutional meetings and promises, no concrete solutions have been implemented to address the fragmentation and logistical difficulties. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-02: Students in Siena occupy Monna Agnese school over facility issues Students at the Monna Agnese Institute in Siena have occupied school buildings to protest decades of inadequate facilities, structural issues, and the logistical challenges of being split across three sites. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/students-in-siena-occupy-monna-agnese-school-over-facility-issues ### 2026-10-16: Siena school commission collapses due to political deadlock Political infighting in Siena has paralyzed the Culture and School Commission, stalling critical reorganization plans for local schools following the closure of the San Bernardino institute. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/siena-school-commission-collapses-due-to-political-deadlock --- Cite as: Siena school reorganization and facility disputes.
