Siheung City is organizing a series of events to commemorate ‘Sihwa Lake Day’ in October, marking the 30th anniversary of the lake’s creation. The celebrations aim to highlight the area’s ecological restoration and its transition from a ‘lake of death’ to a ‘lake of life.’

Scheduled activities include a commemorative week from October 3 to 11 featuring marine leisure programs, such as yachting and kayaking, alongside cultural events like a film festival and traditional arts performances. Additionally, a marine environmental education forum and workshop will be held on October 8 at the Geobukseom Marine Ecology Science Museum. This forum, organized by the Siheung Eco Center and Siheung YMCA, will focus on utilizing the lake’s ecological resources for localized education and discussing the use of digital platforms for citizen science projects.
