Chef Silvena Rou, an international specialist in longevity nutrition, has accepted an appointment to serve as a consultant and advisor to the Bulgarian National Assembly’s Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Food. The role follows an invitation from Yavor Gechev.

Rou’s primary objective is to establish a quality certification and labeling system for high-end Bulgarian food products. This initiative aims to introduce labels for items such as yogurt, cheese, meat, sausages, and wine, enabling consumers to distinguish the healthiest and highest-quality options based on quality standards rather than just safety or recipe authenticity. 

Additionally, Rou intends to focus on approximately ten traditional Bulgarian foods and expressed a desire to see Bulgarian chefs achieve Michelin stars by leveraging the nation’s culinary history. She emphasized promoting domestic produce over imports to support population health.
