Dr. Darko Vasilevski, a physician and private specialist, initiated a hunger strike to protest alleged discriminatory hiring practices at the Medical Faculty in Skopje. Vasilevski claims he has been repeatedly rejected from public job advertisements for general practitioners, alleging that his age has been used as a basis for discrimination and that the selection processes lack objectivity and transparency.

In response to the protest, the Faculty of Medicine issued a statement defending its recruitment procedures. The Faculty asserts that its hiring processes are objective, transparent, and compliant with public sector and higher education laws. Officials maintain that successful candidates were ranked higher than Vasilevski based on interview results and formal education, denying any disadvantage was imposed during the selection stages.
