The sprinter Skybird, trained by Mitchell Freedman, has progressed through a series of high-stakes racing engagements.

In late September, the mare prepared for the $300,000 Group 2 Gilgai Stakes at Flemington. Following a decision to bypass the Manikato Stakes due to track condition concerns, Freedman expressed optimism regarding Skybird’s form after a recent jumpout win.

Following a victory in the Gilgai Stakes, Skybird shifted focus to the $2 million Sydney Stakes at Randwick. Despite facing a wide draw from barrier 18 and expected rain-affected track conditions, the mare is expected to compete with jockey Ben Melham. A top-two finish in this event would push her career earnings beyond $2 million. Freedman indicated that the mare remains in excellent condition as the team looks toward the Champions Sprint at Flemington.
