The Association of Landowners and Agropreneurs of Slovakia (ZVPAS) has issued an open letter to the Minister of Agriculture warning of a deepening crisis in the national agricultural sector. The association describes current instability in primary production as a ‘time bomb’ that threatens food self-sufficiency and risks driving up consumer prices.

Farmers are facing significant revenue losses caused by drought and rising costs for fuel, seeds, and fertilizers, compounded by heavy tax and levy burdens. ZVPAS is calling for stabilization measures, including targeted compensation for drought-related crop damage, preferential bridging loans for seeds, and more transparent distribution of fertilizer aid.
