The seventeenth ‘Čista obala’ (Clean Coast) initiative in Slovenia has mobilized over 260 volunteers to clean the coastline from Ankaran to Piran. Organized by Andreja Palatinus as part of the International Coastal Cleanup, the effort includes participants from Trieste and Gorizia.

Volunteers are collecting and categorizing waste into more than 40 different types, utilizing a new mobile application for data recording. While the total volume of waste collected has decreased from several tons in previous years to between 130 and 150 kilograms in recent actions, the initiative continues to focus on public awareness and data collection. Cigarette butts have been identified as the most frequent type of debris found, with over 11,000 collected during the previous year.
