The Ljubljana District Court has postponed the summary trial for four members of the NSi party, Janez Žakelj, Matej Tonin, Jernej Vrtovec, and Jožef Horvat, until December 22. The Specialized State Prosecutor's Office has charged the individuals with abuse of position regarding an unannounced inspection conducted by the Commission for the Supervision of Intelligence and Security Services (Knovs) in November 2023.

Prosecutors allege that Žakelj and Tonin abused their positions by informing specific individuals that they were not under surveillance during an investigation into whether the police were monitoring 15 phone numbers. Vrtovec and Horvat face charges for their alleged involvement in the decision to conduct the oversight. The accused maintain the inspection was lawful and have characterized the proceedings as political persecution. Matej Tonin, a Member of the European Parliament, had his claim for parliamentary immunity denied by the European Parliament.
