The Teachers Union Serving the State of Mexico (SMSEM), led by General Secretary Jenaro Martínez Reyes, has initiated several organizational activities for the 2026-2027 school year.

In late September, the union distributed 105,000 attendance lists across its 14 regions to assist teachers in tracking student attendance. These materials were provided in both printed formats via union delegates and digital versions through the official SMSEM website.

Following these distributions, the union announced its XLVIII Ordinary State Council, scheduled for October 28 and 29 in Toluca. This meeting of the union’s highest governing body will address economic matters, professional culture, medical assistance, and political-union issues. During the council, Martínez Reyes is expected to present his Second Activity Report, and the proceedings will culminate in the drafting of formal petitions to be submitted to the State Government under Delfina Gómez Álvarez.
