In late August 2026, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) conducted a merit-based promotion ceremony at Rove Police Headquarters, elevating 25 officers to Sergeant and Senior Sergeant ranks. Acting Commissioner James Aitorea noted that these promotions were intended to enhance leadership and public confidence through increased accountability.

By early September, security preparations intensified ahead of a scheduled Motion of No Confidence (MoNC) operation on September 7. More than 35 officers from the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) Emergency Response Group were sworn in to support the RSIPF. Commissioner Aitorea administered the oath, instructing the CSSI officers to work alongside police to ensure the operation remains safe and protects the democratic process.
