The Songjiangkou Hydropower Station on the Dadu River in Sichuan Province, China, has reached significant operational milestones. The facility features a 315-meter rock-fill dam, which is recognized as the world’s tallest dam.

Following the start of commercial operations for the first generator unit in June 2026, the project successfully completed the commissioning of three generating units during the first phase. This rapid deployment has contributed over 500 million kWh of clean electricity to the national grid, assisting with power supply stability for the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle during high-temperature periods. 

The project, developed by China Energy Investment Corp, includes a reservoir with a design capacity of 2.9 billion cubic meters. It is intended to serve critical roles in flood control, water resource regulation, and energy security for the Dadu River basin.
