Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly pursuing a strategy to revive dormant PlayStation intellectual properties by partnering with external development studios. Rather than relying solely on internal teams, the company may finance and publish projects developed by third-party studios, a model following the 2025 release of Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots by Bandai Namco.

Specific reports indicate that the Tokyo-based studio Evening Star—the independent team behind ‘Sonic Mania’—may be working on a new Ape Escape game. While some fans speculated that Team Asobi might lead this revival, current information suggests Evening Star is the primary candidate. Although the project was reportedly in its early stages earlier this year, it is not expected to be announced or released in the immediate future.

Other legacy titles mentioned in connection to this strategy include Killzone and Sly Cooper. Regarding Killzone, reports suggest a remake or remaster could be in the early stages of development in collaboration with Guerrilla Games. Beyond game development, Sony remains interested in licensing these brands for television or film.
