Sony has released successive system software updates for the PlayStation Portal to improve device longevity and functionality.

In version 7.1.7, Sony introduced a default 80% battery charge limit to preserve long-term lithium-ion battery health, though users can manually disable this setting. This update also required firmware updates for paired PlayStation Link accessories to maintain connectivity.

Following this, version 7.3.0 was released, focusing on feature enhancements and stability. This update added the ability to toggle 3D audio during gameplay, improved the search function with real-time results and QR code scanning capabilities, and refined the user interface and system stability.
