Sophon has announced a final timetable to shut down its Ethereum Layer-2 mainnet on November 30, 2026. To prevent permanent loss of funds, the project has established a critical withdrawal deadline of November 25, 2026. Users are advised to withdraw SOPH, ETH, USDC, and assets from Sophon Farms, and to claim staking and Guardian rewards through the official portal.

The shutdown follows a strategic pivot from entertainment-focused applications on zkSync to consumer finance and artificial intelligence on Coinbase’s Base network, a move driven by annual operational costs of approximately $3.4 million. The SOPH token will transition to a model tied to revenue from new Base-based products.

Reports indicate a discrepancy regarding the timeline, as official documentation has stated no fixed date was set, contradicting announcements made on the platform X. Additionally, L2Beat lists the project as Stage 0 with ‘No mechanism’ for sequencer failure, suggesting there is no emergency exit via Ethereum for users to recover funds.
