Sources: 4. Developments: 2. Regional development initiatives in South Holland have expanded to include both environmental conservation and circular economic programs. Initial efforts focused on nature and community welfare through the Regio Deal Waarden van het Groene Hart. This included the development of the Bodegraafse Bos for recreation and the ‘Bij tante Jo’ initiative to support seniors. Additionally, the ‘Mient Groen’ covenant was established by several organizations to create a green corridor between the North Sea coast and the Groene Hart, aiming to balance residential growth with the protection of Natura 2000 areas. Subsequent regional efforts have moved toward industrial sustainability via the WE-Circulair program. Funded by the province of Zuid-Holland, this initiative supports businesses in sectors such as construction and horticulture to implement circular entrepreneurship. The program focuses on material reuse, waste reduction, and the utilization of residual streams, with early projects centered on circular renovation within the Groene Hart Circulair network. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-18: Zuid-Holland funds WE-Circulair program for regional businesses Zuid-Holland has funded the four-year WE-Circulair program to help regional companies in sectors like construction and horticulture implement circular economy solutions and reduce waste. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/zuid-holland-funds-we-circulair-program-for-regional-businesses ### 2026-10-02: South Holland launches regional nature and community projects Regional projects in South Holland are advancing nature and community welfare, including the Bodegraafse Bos development and the Mient Groen partnership to link the North Sea coast with the Groene Hart. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/south-holland-launches-regional-nature-and-community-projects --- Cite as: South Holland regional development initiatives.
