South Korea has seen a significant rise in fraudulent job advertisements. Reports from the Ministry of Employment and Labor indicated that 323 cases of false postings were reported in the first half of 2026, reaching 77.6% of the total reported in the previous year.

Deceptive practices include misrepresenting permanent roles as fixed-term contracts, falsifying wages or job duties, and using high-paying overseas offers on social media to lure individuals into organized crime. In response, the Ministry implemented an integrated monitoring system that inspected over 287,000 advertisements between April and August, resulting in the removal or modification of approximately 2,885 suspicious posts.

To further combat recruitment fraud, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced proposed amendments to the Employment Stability Act, set to take effect on December 10. The new regulations will establish a dual prevention system requiring online job portals to verify suspicious postings before publication. The measures also include an emergency order system allowing the Minister to issue immediate verbal or telephonic orders to stop or delete advertisements, alongside the designation of professional monitoring agencies.
