In Osan, South Korea, a 40-year-old man was arrested following the death of his two-month-old daughter. The suspect reportedly admitted to hitting the infant because she would not stop crying. Authorities noted that the suspect attempted to cover his tracks by remotely deleting home camera footage from his phone immediately after the child's death was confirmed.

By October 14, the suspect appeared before the Suwon District Court for interrogation regarding an arrest warrant. While initially arrested on suspicion of murder, the suspect has denied intent to kill. Consequently, investigators have applied for a warrant based on charges of child abuse resulting in death.

The National Forensic Service provided a preliminary finding that the death was likely caused by head injuries. Police are currently conducting digital forensics to recover the deleted video files.

On October 20, the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency reported that the suspect has been referred to prosecutors on charges of child abuse resulting in death. Investigators successfully used digital forensics to recover the deleted home camera footage, which reportedly contains the sounds of the infant crying and the suspected physical assault.

Police stated the suspect allegedly struck the infant’s face and head approximately ten times. The child was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest but passed away during treatment. The suspect maintained he acted out of irritation rather than intent to kill, expressing remorse during his transfer to custody. Authorities confirmed the suspect’s wife was in another room at the time and had no knowledge of the incident, noting no prior history of abuse.
