Local governments and community organizations in South Korea continue to address regional development, disaster response, and social welfare needs.

In Mungyeong, officials have advocated for infrastructure improvements, including expanded gas supply, new athletic facilities, and agricultural support for Omija productivity, while seeking the inclusion of the Jeomchon-Andong railway in national planning. In Gwangju, concerns were previously raised regarding a lack of government funding for heatwave response facilities in traditional markets.

Community-based welfare initiatives are expanding to support vulnerable populations and reduce family burdens. In Icheon, the Icheon Volunteer Center organized a Chuseok holiday initiative where 19 volunteer groups delivered traditional food and conducted wellness checks for approximately 890 people in need, including the elderly living alone.

In Pocheon, the city is strengthening an integrated medical and nursing care system that provides housework assistance, mobility support, health management, and beauty services within residents' homes. This year, the city has connected 2,286 services to 376 individuals, extending support to evenings and weekends to address care gaps.

In Seo-gu, Gwangju, a new ‘1,000 Won Care’ service has been launched using 200 million won from the Hometown Love Donation Fund. This program provides housework and physical assistance to severe long-term care recipients and certain disabled individuals for a nominal fee of 1,000 won per session, specifically targeting nights and holidays when traditional daytime care is unavailable.
