Transboundary haze triggered by extensive forest and land fires in Kalimantan and Sumatra has led to deteriorating air quality in Malaysia.

Initial reports indicated unhealthy Air Pollutant Index levels across five districts in Sarawak. In response, Malaysia activated national haze and open burning action plans, increasing patrols and initiating cloud-seeding operations.

As the wildfires spread, including a significant blaze in Indonesia's Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, the number of unhealthy areas in Sarawak expanded to eight districts. Unhealthy air quality was also recorded in Peninsular Malaysia, specifically in Selangor, as hot and dry weather continues to affect the region.
