Southern African nations are pursuing various initiatives to enhance regional trade corridors and cross-border economic cooperation.

Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa have committed to strengthening the Trans-Kalahari Corridor (TKC) to establish it as a major gateway for logistics and investment. TKC executive director Leslie Mpofu stated the objective is to transform the corridor into a “trusted destination” for economic sectors. Concurrently, Zambia has identified the Walvis Bay–Ndola–Lubumbashi corridor as a strategic route for development, with President Hakainde Hichilema aiming to position the country as a regional logistics hub through digitized border processes.

In a separate bilateral effort, Angola and Namibia are preparing to establish a One-Stop Border Post (OSBP) at the Oshikango–Santa Clara crossing. This project, intended to simplify customs and reduce administrative delays, is expected to be formalized during a presidential summit in Luanda. Namibian Ambassador Jerobeam Shaanika noted that current trade volumes are below their potential, and the OSBP aims to foster more efficient movement of goods and people in alignment with Southern African Development Community (SADC) frameworks.
