A long-running legal dispute involving Southwest Airlines and the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) has progressed to a request for sanctions. The litigation stems from a 2020 incident on flight 6607, during which Captain Michael Haak allegedly disrobed and viewed pornography in the cockpit while First Officer Christine Janning operated the aircraft. 

While Haak pleaded guilty to a federal crime involving lewd and indecent acts, Janning filed a lawsuit alleging further misconduct and retaliation by the pilots' union for reporting the behavior. SWAPA is now seeking to sanction Janning and her legal team, requesting they cover the union’s legal fees. An attempt by the union to keep this motion for sanctions confidential was rejected by a clerk in Orange County, Florida.
