Forest fires in Spain have burned a total of 296,502 hectares so far this year. According to data from the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), this figure is approximately 3.5 times higher than the annual average of 85,549 hectares recorded since 2006. However, the current total is roughly 22.5% less than the area burned during the same period in 2025, which followed an exceptionally severe summer.

Recent firefighting efforts have focused on various regions. In Huelva, a fire in the Pedraza area was stabilized using 15 aircraft and over 130 personnel. In Galicia, fires in Quiroga and Silleda were controlled, with the latter impacting a zone containing petroglyphs in Castro Montaz. In Andalusia, the fire in the Ermita del Rosario area of Benahavís, Málaga, was fully extinguished by forest firefighters, environmental agents, and aerial support after being active since September 13.
