Recent developments further highlight Spanish heritage, noting that the Alarcos Archaeological Park remains a finalist for the ‘Best National Historical Discovery or Find’ award. Located near the Guadiana River, the site has been under continuous excavation by researchers from the University of Castilla-La Mancha since 1984, revealing over 3,000 years of human occupation from the Late Bronze Age to the Middle Ages. Additionally, the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid maintains a faithful replica of the Altamira Cave, an underground reproduction of the Hall of Polychromes inaugurated in 1964.
