Spain is expanding its biomedical research capabilities through various regional and national funding and support initiatives.

National efforts include programs by the Health Research Institute of Castilla-La Mancha (IDISCAM) to provide scientific advisory for researchers, and significant long-term funding from the Health Institute Carlos III (ISCIII) for Alzheimer’s disease research. The ISCIII has funded 148 projects totaling nearly 25.5 million euros between 2018 and 2025.

At the regional level, the Valencian Community is managing over 1,000 projects and clinical studies focused on cancer prevention and treatment through a network of seven foundations. Additionally, the Balearic Health Research Institute (IdISBa) has introduced a donation platform to facilitate public and corporate contributions to research areas such as oncology, pediatric stroke studies, and regenerative medicine.
