Efforts to identify and provide dignified burials for Spanish Civil War victims in the Balearic Islands have progressed through archaeological investigations and the establishment of dedicated memorial spaces.

In Son Servera, excavations under the V Plan of Graves of the Balearic Islands resumed to locate and exhume remains from municipal cemeteries and private estates. These operations, led by a joint venture between the Aranzadi Science Society and ATICS, utilize historical documentation and oral testimonies to identify potential sites.

In Palma, the Son Valentí cemetery inaugurated the ‘Columbari de la Dignitat’, a space designed to house the remains of 225 victims of the Civil War and the Franco dictatorship. The site contains the remains of identified individuals and 214 people whose identities remain unknown, recovered from various mass graves and sites across Mallorca, including Porreres, Son Coletes, Marratxí, Calvià, Llucmajor, Inca, and Selva. Archaeologist Xesc Busquets noted that these individuals had previously remained in ‘fossas de l’oblit’ (fosses of oblivion).
