The Red de Pueblos de Película has launched the inaugural edition of the Pueblos de Película Awards to recognize Spanish municipalities that utilize their audiovisual heritage for tourism and cultural development.

Initially announced with 27 participating municipalities, the competition includes locations such as Alfarnatejo, Ayna, Cardona, and Peñíscola. The awards feature a ‘Best Film Village’ category and a ‘Revelation Village’ distinction. Specific notable candidates include Tabernas in Andalusia, known for landscapes in ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, and Loarre in Aragon, which served as a setting for ‘Kingdom of Heaven’.

The winner of the ‘Best Film Village’ category is to be decided by a public vote, which remains open until October 25. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 13 during the INTUR International Inland Tourism Fair in Valladolid.
