Developments: 2. Spanish football clubs are beginning their campaigns in the Copa del Rey tournament. Unión Deportiva Almería is marking its 25th consecutive appearance in the competition, a streak dating back to the 2002/03 season. The club’s history in the tournament includes a notable semifinal run during the 2010/11 season, which ended in a defeat against FC Barcelona. Deportivo La Coruña is scheduled to start its journey with an away match against Auriense at O Couto. Following a period without league victories, the club intends to use the tournament for player rotation and to provide playing time for individuals such as Lucas Noubi, while adhering to regulations regarding the number of academy players permitted on the pitch. Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini is also expected to rotate his squad for the fixture against fourth-tier Navalcarnero to manage workloads. While Junior Firpo has returned to training, he may not be included in the immediate squad. The team will be missing Cucho Hernández due to injury and Facundo Bernal due to suspension. In attack, Irish striker Troy Parrott seeks to establish himself in the rotation. Additionally, winger Abde is expected to rest after playing every minute of the last six matches. The goalkeeper position remains uncertain, with Pellegrini deciding between Álvaro Valles, Diego Conde, or Manu González. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Real Betis prepares squad rotations for Copa del Rey tie against Navalcarnero Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini plans to rotate his squad for the Copa del Rey match against Navalcarnero, offering minutes to players like Troy Parrott and testing backup goalkeepers. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/real-betis-expected-to-rotate-squad-for-copa-del-rey-match ### 2026-10-25: Spanish football clubs prepare for Copa del Rey campaigns UD Almería celebrates 25 consecutive Copa del Rey appearances, while Deportivo La Coruña looks to use the tournament for player rotation and momentum. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/spanish-football-clubs-prepare-for-copa-del-rey-campaigns --- Cite as: Spanish football clubs in Copa del Rey.
