The Spanish Government, led by the PSOE-Sumar coalition, has vetoed the processing of the Airport Co-management Law in the Balearic Islands. Additionally, the labor union CCOO has opposed the co-management model, warning that fragmenting management could increase operational costs, leading to higher fees and airfares. CCOO also noted that regional management would not grant direct control over flight numbers or slots, as these are regulated by European norms and national coordination bodies. Meanwhile, the Canary Islands government is negotiating a separate model with the State to increase its own decision-making capacity regarding its airports.
