Sources: 6. Developments: 2. Spanish Minister of Transport Óscar Puente has been involved in several public disputes with political figures, media personalities, and private citizens. Initially, Puente engaged in a verbal confrontation with former PSOE deputy Eduardo Madina and journalist Antonio Ferreras following criticisms regarding the government’s management of the migration crisis in Ceuta. During this exchange, Puente suggested Madina’s critiques were rooted in personal resentment, leading Ferreras to accuse the minister of attempting to silence critics. Subsequently, Puente’s public friction expanded to include chef José Andrés, whom the minister dismissed as a ‘chef brother-in-law’ after Andrés criticized national housing policies. Parallel to these personal disputes, the Ministry of Transport has faced institutional opposition from regional governments, such as the Balearic Islands. These regional authorities argue that proposed structures for the Superior Council and the Territorial Forum for Sustainable Mobility would marginalize autonomous communities by limiting their voting rights and decision-making power. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Spain's Transport Minister faces criticism over policy disputes Spanish Transport Minister Óscar Puente faces scrutiny over personal disputes with chef José Andrés and proposals that would limit regional governments' influence in national mobility planning. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/spains-transport-minister-faces-criticism-over-policy-disputes ### 2026-09-19: Minister Óscar Puente clashes with Eduardo Madina and Antonio Ferreras Spanish Minister Óscar Puente sparked controversy after trading insults with former PSOE official Eduardo Madina and journalist Antonio Ferreras following criticisms regarding the government's policy in Ceuta. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/minister-scar-puente-clashes-with-eduardo-madina-and-antonio-ferreras --- Cite as: Spanish Minister Óscar Puente public disputes.
