In late September, a teacher was detained by National Police for making direct death threats against her, including threats to “cut her neck.” During this period, García was also exerting pressure on the PSOE to include strict protections for primary and seasonal rentals in a pending housing decree. By late October, political friction escalated between the central government and regional authorities. Fátima Matute, the Health Counselor for the Community of Madrid, accused García of “institutional dictatorial cowardice” during an Interterritorial Council of the National Health System meeting. Matute claimed García silenced her participation during discussions regarding budget allocations and challenged the accuracy of the central government’s reported distribution of 300 billion euros in additional funds. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-23: Madrid Health Minister accuses Spanish Health Minister of silencing participation Madrid's Health Counselor Fátima Matute has accused Spanish Health Minister Mónica García of suppressing her right to participate in a national health council meeting. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/madrid-health-minister-accuses-spanish-health-minister-of-silencing-participation ### 2026-09-28: Mónica García faces death threats and housing policy pressure Spanish Health Minister Mónica García faces death threats from a detained teacher while simultaneously leading political pressure on the PSOE to strengthen a new housing decree. 11 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/spanish-teacher-arrested-for-death-threats-against-minister-mnica-garca --- Cite as: Spanish political tensions involving Mónica García.
