In Catalonia, the Generalitat announced an extraordinary support plan to provide liquidity to farms experiencing revenue declines due to price crises, drought, and climate phenomena. The initiative specifically targets the wine and livestock sectors, utilizing contingency funds and grants such as 5 million euros from the Nuclear Transition Fund. This follows previous financial mobilizations for drought response and green harvesting. Additionally, authorities have increased inspections of the food supply chain following the detection of potentially irregular contractual relationships. In Galicia, the Xunta announced a subsidy program exceeding 3.6 million euros to mitigate rising production costs, particularly for fertilizers and agricultural diesel. The funding is a combination of 1.6 million euros from the European Commission and 2 million euros from the regional government. The aid is intended to be distributed via direct contributions per hectare to ensure farm stability and encourage generational renewal in rural areas. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-01: Galicia announces 3.6 million euros in aid for farmers Galicia's President Alfonso Rueda announced over 3.6 million euros in subsidies for farmers to combat rising production costs and highlighted the region's growing industrial and strategic importance. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/galicia-announces-36-million-euros-in-aid-for-farmers ### 2026-09-28: Catalan government announces aid for agricultural sector crisis The Catalan government is launching extraordinary aid to support farmers facing price crises and climate issues, while increasing inspections to prevent illegal practices like buying grapes below cost. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/catalan-government-announces-aid-for-agricultural-sector-crisis --- Cite as: Spanish regional agricultural aid initiatives.
