Academic gatherings in Spain have addressed a range of historical and contemporary issues. Past discussions, such as a 1995 meeting in Valencia, focused on the linguistic unity of the Catalan language across multiple regions through a signed manifesto by university professors.

More recent and upcoming forums address modern governance and institutional challenges. The Forum of Ombudspersons of Catalan Universities (SIUCAT) recently met in Barcelona to discuss research integrity, the use of artificial intelligence in student evaluations, and faculty merit assessments.

Looking ahead, the Conference of Spanish Rectors (CCS) is scheduled to meet in Murcia to discuss technological competition, economic security, and entrepreneurship. Concurrently, the Salamanca Forum 2026 at the University of Salamanca intends to apply historical ethical frameworks from the School of Salamanca to modern debates regarding international law, economic responsibility, and social justice.
