Municipalities in Spain have initiated urban redevelopment projects funded significantly by European EDIL program resources.

In Ponteareas, the City Council launched a 1.2 million euro tender to renovate Plaza de Bugallal. The project focuses on environmental adaptation to mitigate the heat island effect through increased vegetation, new pergolas, and the replacement of concrete with natural, draining pavements.

In Cádiz, the City Council approved a redevelopment plan for the La Paz neighborhood, specifically targeting Plaza Francisca Larrea and Glorieta Pablo Iglesias. With a total investment exceeding 1 million euros, the works aim to improve accessibility, install urban furniture, and upgrade infrastructure such as lighting and rainwater collection systems. Approximately 85% of the Cádiz project is expected to be financed via European EDIL funds.
