In Madrid, the ‘Madrid in Game’ initiative has facilitated nearly 13 million euros in startup funding, supporting over 300 projects and 400 jobs via specialized innovation and competitive gaming centers. In the Canary Islands, efforts involve integrating gaming with tourism, such as using Roblox for virtual showcases in Lanzarote and hosting the Gran Canaria Experience festival to connect local talent with international investors. To further bolster the sector, the DeVuego database launched a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that notifies users when they encounter Spanish-developed titles on major digital storefronts. Additionally, the Spanish Ministry of Culture has allocated one million euros to promote the internationalization of the industry, specifically targeting small and medium-sized independent developers to help them secure global financing and distribution. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-06: Spain boosts video game industry with new tools and funding Spain is supporting its video game industry through a new DeVuego browser extension to identify domestic titles and a one million euro government fund to promote Spanish games internationally. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/spain-boosts-video-game-industry-with-new-tools-and-funding ### 2026-09-30: Spain's gaming industry expands through startup funding and tourism integration Spain's gaming sector is expanding through Madrid's startup funding initiatives and Canary Islands' efforts to link video game technology with tourism and international investment. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/spains-gaming-industry-expands-through-startup-funding-and-tourism-integration --- Cite as: Spanish video game industry development.
