High-end specialty coffee auctions in Colombia and Panama have achieved significant price milestones for premium varietals.

In Nariño, Colombia, the La Mejor Taza 2026 auction saw Geisha coffee from the La Milpa farm reach a record US$151 per pound. This price was noted as being more than 43 times the international reference price. Other traditional coffee categories also saw high valuations, with prices reaching approximately US$40 to US$41 per pound.

In Panama, the Best of Panama auction generated total sales exceeding US$3 million. The auction featured 750 kilograms of specialty coffee, including 40 Geisha lots. The most expensive single lot, Elida Geisha Torre from Lamastus Family Estate, sold for US$270,060, averaging US$18,004 per kilogram. High demand from Asian markets contributed to the auction's success, with five Geisha coffees selling for over US$10,000 per kilogram.

Recent auction activity in Colombia’s Huila region also demonstrated high valuations for Geisha coffee. During the Huila Hunt 2026 auction at the International Coffee, Cocoa, and Agrotourism Fair (FICCA 2026), a 100-kilogram nano-lot from Finca La Fortuna in Pitalito sold for US$90 per pound.

Further record-breaking activity occurred at the ‘Colombia Tierra de Diversidad’ international hybrid auction during the Cafés de Colombia Expo 2026. María Nilsa Garzón Díaz, a producer from Rosas, Cauca, set a new milestone when her washed Castillo variety coffee sold for US$400 per pound. Acquired by Banexport S.A. – Café 18, this price is more than 100 times the current international market rate for standard Colombian coffee.
