Nigerian content creator Speed Darlington has become involved in several boxing-related controversies. Initially, Darlington challenged Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy to a boxing match, offering to fund the event himself. This challenge followed Darlington’s allegations regarding Burna Boy’s Grammy Award and alleged connections to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Following these tensions, content creator Carter Efe announced a celebrity boxing match against Speed Darlington titled ‘Chaos in the Ring’. Scheduled for October 1 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, the bout was motivated by Efe’s desire to respond to Darlington’s recent comments about Burna Boy. Efe stated he intends to defeat Darlington to ‘embarrassment’ to protect other major artists from similar remarks.

Darlington has since clarified his motivations for seeking a match with Burna Boy, stating he intends to use the ring to “offload all my anger” on the singer. He cited a long-standing grudge stemming from a previous arrest, claiming, “He had me locked up, that’s what he did to me.” This tension follows a legal dispute involving allegations of defamation regarding Darlington’s claims about Burna Boy’s relationship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. While Darlington was previously remanded in custody regarding these claims, he was later granted bail, though the legal matter remains unresolved.
