TT-Line is preparing for the launch of its new Spirit of Tasmania IV and V vessels, which are scheduled to begin commercial service on October 31. Following a two-year delay, construction of the new berth at Devonport is expected to be completed in September, with physical berthing trials for the vessels scheduled for late August and late September.

In preparation for the new fleet, TT-Line announced the removal of a 15 per cent fuel surcharge on passenger and vehicle bookings, effective September 1. Although the surcharge was originally implemented to offset rising oil prices, the company stated that lifting the levy was in the “best interest of the Tasmanian visitor economy,” despite the company absorbing over $2 million in unrecovered costs. Fuel-related pricing for freight remains unchanged.
