Varna is hosting a series of major sporting events throughout September and October 2026. In mid-September, the city hosted the Classic Varna 2026 bodybuilding and fitness tournament, which featured 120 competitors across 15 disciplines and included a charitable component for the Kamenar animal shelter. Simultaneously, the second Golden Shot 2026 international pneumatic sport shooting tournament began, involving approximately 100 athletes from Bulgaria, Moldova, and Romania. Following these events, the city hosted the 13th annual ‘Varna 2026’ swimming festival, where athletes from the Cherno More Swimming Club secured multiple medals. The sporting schedule also includes the tenth anniversary of the Black Sea Games, a multi-sport event featuring basketball, artistic gymnastics, tennis, and rhythmic gymnastics. From September 23 to September 30, 2026, the city participated in the European Week of Sport, an initiative designed to promote physical activity and health through community events. Concluding the month, the Victoria Athletics youth athletics tournament was held at the renovated Lokomotiv sports complex, featuring 160 children and young athletes. In early October, the ‘City Wonder Challenge 2026’ adventure competition took place, featuring 10 teams competing in six disciplines. The competition began near the Aladzha Monastery area with cycling, archery, and orienteering, followed by a logical task and a kayaking stage. The event concluded with a speed climbing final at the ‘Chudnite Skali’ sports club. Additionally, the fourth edition of the ‘Varna Cup’ open fencing tournament is scheduled for October 10 and 11 at the ‘Vladislav Varnenchik’ sports hall, serving as the first round of the Bulgarian Cup for epee.
