The Sri Lankan Test squad has faced selection and fitness challenges ahead of their series in Pakistan. Initially, opening batter Lahiru Udara was excluded from the squad despite a recent career-best score of 188, raising questions about the team’s strategy while specialist opener Pathum Nissanka dealt with fitness concerns.

By late October, Nissanka was officially ruled out of the two-match Test series against Pakistan due to a persistent left hamstring injury sustained during a tour of England in September. Consequently, Lahiru Udara was named as his replacement. Udara, who was already in Pakistan with the ODI squad, is expected to join the Test setup for the series scheduled to begin on November 9. Kusal Mendis will captain the side for the matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
