Through August 2026, the CAA conducted 471 special pharmacy raids nationwide, including a two-day operation on August 3 and 4 that inspected 109 pharmacies. These inspections resulted in 86 violations, leading to court-ordered fines totaling Rs 2,269,500. Seized items included expired medicines, syringes, injections, and medical devices. Separate investigations also uncovered a Colombo warehouse containing illegal medical supplies valued at over Rs 10 million, as well as medical institutions in the north that were fined for possessing expired medicines and overcharging patients.
